Pity Party–Table For One?

Because one of the kiddos was down all week with some lower GI bug, I missed every Holy Week church service last week.  Every single last one.

In the thick of cleaning, comforting, and loving on a child, it was easy to say, oh well, next year.  No biggie.

But now that it’s over, I feel bereft.  Everyone’s refreshed, Twittering about their week, their sense of renewal, new life, hope and I’m sitting in the muck facing laundry, a stuffy house, and a still not well boy.

Poor child.  Poor selfish moi.

So, my question is this:  Is a pity party considered immature even if being thrown for ‘spiritual’ reasons??

Talk some sense into me, people.

I am trying to get my articles published in a newspaper or magazine. How do I protect my work? .

I don’t think it’s immature to be feeling badly about that. It is true you can prayer and mark the special days without being at services—but those services are a high point of the year, for those who mark such things, and I can understand how you feel. I made it to two of the four this year….

I hope your child is feeling better and that you’ll be able to get some quiet time for yourself!

He’s still down, huh?? Yucko. Well, I don’t think that you need to feel badly for feeling badly. It always helps when you’re able to get out of the house again. . .take a walk, enjoy the beautiful weather and beauty of God’s creation, and be thankful for that. Oh, yeah. And next week, we can all get together and have that elusive party and then all will be well with the world again.

I missed them all because my kids are still little and they were all at 7 or 7:30 pm (not Easter, I did make it to that one). And I’m also feeling a bit pity party-ish. I suppose we don’t need the services to recognize the magnitude of what happened those many years for our own selfish mama sakes. But it sure would be nice.

well, I guess this might sound like preaching, but I was thinking that this is what’s great about the resurrection. We can celebrate renewal, new life, and hope any old time we want to…because of the cross and the empty tomb. Yay for that!! I am sorry that you missed all the organized celebrations, though.
